John 1:4–5 NLT

“The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

Light is important.

From the beginning, God spoke light into darkness. And when Jesus came, His life brought light to everyone.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

Never means never.

When the light of Jesus begins to work in your heart, you start to speak differently. You start to act differently. You start to see people differently.

When that light starts to shine, you start seeing people the way God sees them.

You begin asking, “How can I help them? What can I do?”

That light is not based on your natural ability. God is not concerned with the level of your ability. He is concerned by the level of your willingness to submit to what He’s asking you to do.

The darkness around you does not have the power to put out what Jesus has placed within you.

Here’s a challenge for you today:

When something around you looks dark, don’t focus on the darkness. Remember that the light of Jesus cannot be overcome. Ask Him, “Lord, what would You have me do right here?” and be willing to obey.
