Luke 10:41–42
“And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part…”
Martha wasn’t doing anything wrong—she was serving. But she missed what mattered most. She welcomed Jesus into her home, but then got so busy doing things for Him that she forgot to be with Him. That’s easy to do.
We can serve, help, volunteer, and stay active… but still neglect the one thing that actually matters—His presence. Mary chose differently. She sat at Jesus’ feet and listened.
Jesus didn’t correct Martha’s serving—He corrected her priorities. The lesson is simple but powerful: You can be busy and still be spiritually empty.
God doesn’t want your activity first—He wants your attention.
Everything we do for Him should flow from being with Him.
