Stay Teachable

Acts 4:13 KJV

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”

You don’t need a ton of schooling.

You need a teachable spirit.

To study, you must have a teachable spirit and remain humble. You must be willing to learn and realize as you study, it’s going to clarify things.

Sometimes we come to the Word carrying what we already think we know. But the right posture is, “Lord, I’m ready to learn from You, not bring You what I think I know. I’m ready to get it from You.”

Peter had to do that. There were things he had always believed and practiced, but when God showed him something different, he had to listen and change.

All of us have a little bit of wrong teaching in us. We have to let the Lord clarify.

That requires humility.

You can listen to other people, but studying is not coming to church. It’s not listening to someone else’s podcast. It’s not even listening to someone’s teaching. But you can use those things as a start.

Then you go get it on the inside for yourself.

Here’s a challenge for you today:

Come to the Word with this attitude: “Lord, teach me.” Be willing to let Scripture correct, clarify, or deepen something you thought you already understood.
