Romans 8:12–13 NKJV
“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
You want to see greater moves of God? Greater surrender.
Fasting is not about trying to get God to love you more or trying to force God to move.
You don’t fast to get God to move. You fast to get yourself in a position to receive from God.
God is not stuck. Fasting changes our position. It quiets the flesh, exposes what has been controlling us, and helps us become more sensitive to the Spirit of God.
“Big surrender, big reward.”
There are things God wants to do in us and through us, but spiritual discipline requires something from us. It means laying things down, surrendering our own desires, and making room for God.
People don’t know the surrender and the sacrifice people make in the quiet place. But God will reward you openly.
Here’s a challenge for you today:
Ask yourself, “What am I still holding onto that God is asking me to surrender?” Don’t focus on what someone else needs to lay down. Let God deal with your heart and your own areas of surrender.
