Psalm 63:6 NKJV
“When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.”
When we go to bed, we should be meditating on Scripture. We should be thinking about God when we go to bed. Just like your thoughts will be better during the day when you’re meditating on God, what you meditate on affects what you think and feel.
Society is full of noise, hurry, crowded schedules, and constant doing. It keeps people so busy dealing with natural things that they never feed their spirit.
But God did not intend for us to live our lives in our own physical ability and that’s it.
Spiritual discipline is between you and God. Nobody can meditate for you. God wants a relationship and a personal interaction with you. He wants you to be able to go to Him yourself, talk to Him, hear from Him, and do what He is telling you to do.
Meditation is fellowship and relationship with God. It is taking His Word and keeping it before you until your feelings and emotions no longer drive you—the Word drives you.
You can get to the place where you’re not moved by what you see; you’re moved by who lives in you.
Here’s a challenge for you today:
Before you go to sleep tonight, put everything else down for a few minutes and turn your thoughts toward the Lord. Take one verse and think on it, speak it, and let His Word be what fills your mind at the end of the day.
