Genesis 2:2 NLT
“On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work.”
What He has done means it is already finished.
If something is done, that means it is complete. If the food is done, it is finished cooking. If the job is done, that means it is complete. Nothing has to be added to it.
And if Jesus has done a finished work at the cross, that means what took place through His death, burial, and resurrection is enough.
God rested on the seventh day, not because He was tired, but because He was finished. And there is something powerful in that for us. It is okay to rest in God. We need to rest, not because we are tired, but because we are trusting.
Faith gives you the ability to rest.
When you pray, rest in your prayer. If your prayer is a prayer of faith, where you put it on God and you are trusting Him, then rest in it. Don’t pray, “Lord, I thank You that You supply all of my needs,” and then walk away trying to handle every situation in your own strength.
Resting is knowing that what God has done is finished, and then being led by your spirit in what He wants you to do next.
God has already done the work. Jesus has already paid the price. The finished work of the cross is enough.
Here’s your challenge today:
Take one thing you have been trying to carry in your own strength and release it to God. Remind yourself today: I can rest because He has already finished the work.
