Luke 9:23 (KJV) – “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
The weather may be cold outside, but disciples keep the fire burning on the inside. Culture shifts. Pressure rises. Opposition increases. But a disciple is not moved by what’s happening around them — they are moved by what God has spoken. Salvation is free, but discipleship costs something. It costs comfort. It costs preference. It costs daily surrender. Jesus didn’t say think about following Me. He said deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow. The cross represents a decision: Will I follow my flesh, or will I follow the Spirit? Discipleship is not perfection. It’s persistence. You don’t keep the fire burning just when things are hard — you keep it burning all the time so you’re ready when difficulty comes.
